Director Sri Ganesh of 8 Thottakkal fame is back with a new project. According to reports, the director’s upcoming project has been titled Kurudhi Aatam. There is no information about the film from the makers, although an official announcement of the title along with the first-look poster is expected some time next week.
True to his style, Kurudhi Aatam, too, looks like an action adventure, with possibly Atharvaa Murali in the leading the role. Produced by Big Print Pictures, the details regarding cast and crew of the film are likely to be announced soon.

Ganesh’s directorial debut, 8 Thottakal, a thrilling police procedural, released in 2017 and was well received. The story revolves around an honest policeman who accidentally loses his service pistol, which ends up with the antagonist, who goes on a killing spree. The film, starring Vetri and Aparna Balamurali in the lead, and MS Bhaskar and Nasser in pivotal roles, was produced by Vetrivel Saravana Cinemas and became reasonably successful at the box-office. The 27-year-old began his career working with filmmaker Mysskin, before he broke away on his own to make 8 Thottakal. Having started out as a teenager when he assisted Crazy Mohan and his theatre troupe, Ganesh reportedly fell in love with cinema by the time he graduated from college, before eventually seeking out Mysskin to mentor him, The Hindu reported last year just before the release of the film.
This week saw the release of Atharvaa’s comedy thriller Semma Bodha Aagathey directed by Badri Venkatesh. The actor is currently busy with Boomerang, directed by R Kannan. Other than that, he will soon be seen in the action-thriller Imaikka Nodigal, which has Nayanthara in the lead and Anurag Kashyap as the antagonist, as well as 100, directed by Sam Anton starring Hansika Motwani, where he will be seen playing the role of a police officer for the first time.
