After a brief period of celebration and a seeming victory for Udta Punjab, it faces new flak from Punjab based NGO, Human Rights Awareness Association. The NGO has approached the Supreme Court seeking a stay on Udta Punjab’s release claiming that the film shows Punjab in a negative light.

The Bombay High Court on Wednesday quashed the Central Board of Film Certification’s (CBFC) objections and cleared the movie with one cut, paving the way for its originally planned release on June 17.
