Actor Aamir Khan, Director Rajkumar Hirani Hint At 3 Idiots Sequel

Aamir Khan has admitted he would like to work on the follow-up to the 2009 hit film  3 Idiots. Speaking at a special screening of Saala Khadoos, Hirani’s latest production, Aamir said, “Raju Hirani has given me a hint about 3 Idiots sequel and I am giving you all a hint. The film will happen if and whenever he will write the script. Let’s keep our fingers crossed.”

Director Rajkumar Hirani also shared the actor’s excitement for the 3 Idiots sequel. He said, “We have a great idea for the sequel to ‘3 Idiots’. The idea is very sketchy but if everything falls in place, we would love to work together again”.

In 3 Idiots, Aamir Khan plays the role of Rancho, who has a very quirky and refreshing outlook towards the system of education in India. Actors R Madhavan and Sharman Joshi played his college mates. The film followed Madhavan and Sharman as they travelled across the country to find their best friend, Rancho. The film went on to become the highest-grossing Bollywood film in overseas markets.

The movie was also successfully remade in Tamil as Nanban, starring actors Vijay, Srikanth and Jiiva.

Aamir Khan after 3 Idiots, joined hands with the director for the film PK. The movie was declared a massive success at the box office. The director has been missing in action since then.

Aamir Khan currently has two projects in the pipeline. Directed by Nitesh Tiwari the actor will be seen in Dangal, an upcoming, biographical sports film. Aamir Khan portrays the role of Mahavir Singh Phogat, an Indian wrestler, and Olympics coach, who trains his daughters to compete at the Commonwealth games. The film is expected to release in December, 2016.

It is also reported that after Dangal’s release, the actor will start filming for Vijay Krishna Acharya’s Thug. His role in Thug would be a lighter one, on the lines of his Rangeela character. The film will be produced by Yash Raj Films.
