My Inspirations: Nandita Sweta

Actress Nandita Sweta, who has bagged a role in the Vijay-starrer Puli, loves watching films in which women play integral roles.I love Kangna Ranaut’s character in particular.  I was in awe of her performance and I respect her more for accepting that kind of a role.Having been a part of fashion and cinema industry, I love films that offer an insider view.

The makers of Mundasupatti are planning to roll out a sequel to the film soon. The movie, starring Vishnu Vishal and Nandita, completed 25 days at the box office recently and has managed to rake in over Rs 10.5 crores for its producers Thirukumaran Entertainment and Fox Star India.

Mundasupatti Review: Camera Shy

Mundasupatti is set in the 80s. Fascinatingly so.   It has a well-worn Yashica camera that takes pride of place, an old-fashioned studio with charming props, – a rusty tripod replete with a cloth hood, and a photographer who sneers faintly through the lens and says, “thalai seevitu vaanga”.When Munis Khan saunters into their studio one day, with a flippant– “oru tea sollu” directed at Azhagumani, he stares at him for a second, goes back to what he’s doing and says in a perfect stroke of deadpan mastery – “tea”.

Mundasupatti Movie Review – Galatta

Director Ram Kumar has taken a simple premise and woven it into a tale of superstitious beliefs and a lot of fun. The screenplay is crisp and the comic sense in each and every scene keeps the viewers laughing continuously. Vishnu is known to take up performance-oriented roles and he has continued in that vein and given a stellar performance in the movie. Nandita is brilliant as the demure village girl who slowly falls in love with an outsider. Kaali Venkat and Ramadas (who plays Muneeshkanth) are the show stealers. The subtle acting and the comic timing are absolutely perfect. Anandraj makes a very good comeback as the Jameendar. Sean Roldan’s music is one of the biggest pluses for the movie. Cinematography by PV Shankar and editing by Leo John Paul are crisp and appealing.

Playing Innocent: The Nandita Sweta Interview

I went back and finished college. ” Now, five movies later (she has four others coming up), they are slowly getting used to the idea. “They know what happens in cinema now; and at the shooting spot. So they are alright. quote align=’left’]”I don’t know why I end up with all the innocent roles,” she declares with mock exasperation, “They are very difficult to portray. ”[/quote]Acting, Nandita would like to say, is something that happened by chance.

Mundasupatti’s Giant Poster

With Mundasupatti, CV Kumar’s Thirukumaran Entertainment has stepped up its promotions a notch. While its innovative Mundasupatti style makeover site has won over a lot of admirers and was the first of its kind, the team now has another first to boast about. A 120-feet long poster of the movie has been spotted at the Koyambedu bus stand. Measuring 120×4.5 feet, the poster is certainly one of the biggest the city has seen so far.

Mundasupatti Press Meet Report

“So, the plot revolves around a photographer – Vishnu Vishal – who goes to the village with his assistant to take pictures of corpses,” narrated the director – “and what happens when they shoot photographs of living people – the trouble they get into – and how they manage to come out of it forms the crux of the film”.
