Annaatthe, the upcoming Tamil film starring actor Rajinikanth, will release on November 4 on the occasion of Diwali, the film’s producer Sun Pictures announced on social media on Monday.

Rajinikanth’s upcoming Tamil action-drama film Annaatthe’s shooting in Hyderabad was suspended on Wednesday after four crew members tested positive for Covid-19. The actor and other crew members have tested negative for the coronavirus. Besides Rajinikanth, the film also stars Nayanthara, Keerthy Suresh, Prakash Raj, Soori, Meena, and Khushbu.
Rajinikanth has been summoned by the Justice Aruna Jegadeesan Commission to give a deposition on 19 January 2021 in the case of the Thoothukudi police firing during the 2018 anti-Sterlite protests in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu, reported ANI on Monday.
The actor had said that “anti-social elements” were involved in the firing, which resulted in the death of 13 persons.
In May 2018, protests against the copper branch of Vedanta Limited, Sterlite Copper, erupted in Tuticorin, Tamil Nadu, because of concerns over the environmental damage caused by the plant and its expansion. During the protest, the police in Thoothukudi opened fire and killed 13 people. The police subsequently said that they had fired because the Collector’s office was under threat from protestors.
The Madras High Court on Monday issued a warning to Sree Raghavendra Educational Society, which was represented by its secretary Latha Rajinikanth, that it will be sued under contempt of court proceedings if it does not vacate its premises in Guindy area in Chennai by April 30, 2021, The Hindu reported on Tuesday.
