Weekend Playlist – Santhosh Narayanan

Vada Chennai which released on Wednesday marked Santhosh Narayanan’s 25th album as a music composer. After debuting alongside Pa.Ranjith in 2012’s Attakkathi, his songs have carved out a niche largely due to their unconventional nature. While other composers are caught up in the race to invent new sounds, Santhosh Narayanan’s compositions are minimalist in approach.

The song was recorded recently, and from all accounts, everybody had a great time during the process. Santhosh Narayanan on Siddharth

Santhosh Narayanan revealed that he was not very confident about getting Siddharth to sing for Enakkul Oruvan. The song Prabalamaagave was originally recorded with the voice of Santhosh, but was later removed because “it didn’t match Siddharth’s character”. “I was very wary of the whole thing and didn’t know how it would pan out. The video guys came to the studio to document the process, but I asked them to wait. I did a trial run with Siddharth, and he handled it like a pro. Very minimum re-takes and no trouble at all for me.”
