While the coronavirus-imposed lockdown has been a threat to several industries and workers, it has proved beneficial to a section of the film industry. Filmmakers who were struggling to screen their films in theatres are now turning to OTT platforms for their exhibition, booking profits while also garnering worldwide reach. While streamers like Amazon Prime, Netflix, and Zee5 have gone on to release several films from different industries, some of the other platforms are yet to take the plunge.
Late actor Sushant Singh Rajput and Sanjana Sanghi starrer Dil Bechara will be hitting a OTT platform directly. While rumours about the film directly premiering on the digital platform surfaced last week, the official confirmation has now come from the production house Fox Star Studios. The film will stream on Disney+ Hotstar VIP on July 24 for both subscribers and non-subscribers in memory of the late actor.

The trailer of Good Newwz starring Akshay Kumar (as Varun Bhatra), Kareena Kapoor Khan (Deepti Bhatra), Diljit Dosanjh (Honey Bhatra), and Kiara Advani (Monika Bhatra) is here. The film is a comedy of errors about two couples, both called, well, Mr & Mrs Batra. The foursome goes to a fertility clinic, for IVF treatment and that’s where the ‘spam’ as Diljit’s Honey, calls it, gets… mixed up. Chaos ensues. Kareena looks convincing, Akshay has always been good at not-so-politically correct humour, Kiara and Diljit look innocent enough. Adil Hussain is the doctor. The film is about the two couples, navigating this complex maze of parenthood.

Following the story-line of Sairat, Dhadak goes exploring the grey territory of post-infatuation where the lovers feel the pangs of real life, realize that being around each other and building a life together isn’t as dreamy as a fairy tale.Sairat brought alive the socio-political nuances of the small-town so subtly that it crept into the audience’s understanding without them realizing it – like the almost-invisible moment where the boy’s mother hesitates a little when the girl comes to their house and asks for a glass of water. Dhadak unfolds in a one-note world.
‘Zingaat’ appears at a very important juncture in Sairat, and going by the looks of it, it’s a similar setting in Dhadak. The song with an addictive beat composed by Ajay-Atul was a huge hit in Marathi, and the same tune has been retained for the Hindi remake.
The song sees Farah Khan come out of “choreographic retirement” to get Ishaan Khattar and Janhvi Kapoor dance with gay abandon.
