‘Emmys So White’: Emmys 2021 Called Out for Lack of Non-White Winners Despite Nominations Promising Diversity

The 73rd Primetime Emmy Awards that were held on Sunday saw no actors of colour winning in any of the major performance categories despite the Television Academy announcing a record-breaking nominations slate with respect to diversity. This led to the Emmys getting called out by netizens, several of whom used the #EmmysSoWhite hashtag to express their outrage.

Oscars 2021: 2 Women Directors Nominated for the First Time, ‘Mank’ Leads With 10 Overall Nominations 

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, which announced its nominees of the 93rd Oscars on Monday, created history by nominating two women filmmakers for the best director award- Chloé Zhao for Nomadland and Emerald Fennell for Promising Young Woman. However, it was Netflix’s Mank, starring Gary Oldman as Citizen Kane writer Herman Mankiewicz, that clinched the most number of nominations with a total count of 10.

Golden Globes 2018: When Women Stood Together And Booed Hollywood’s Sexism

Two marvelous women-centric films took home the Best Picture Awards in Drama and Musical/Comedy categories at the 75th Golden Globes which was held at Beverly Hills, California, on Sunday night.
Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, won awards for Best Motion Picture, Drama, and its lead actor, Frances McDormand won the award for the Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture, Drama. Actress-turned-filmmaker Greta Gerwig’s Ladybird won the awards for the Best Musical/Comedy, and its lead actor Saoirse Ronan won the best actress award in that category.
