The strike called by the Tamil Film Producers’ Council has been called off and Karthik Subbaraj’s Mercury will be the first Tamil film to release in the state after 48 days. Though the film is a silent thriller with no dialogues, it had released in rest of the country last week.
Apart from Mercury, there is Iranian filmmaker Majid Majidi’s first Indian film venture, Beyond The Clouds and Mahesh Babu’s much-awaited Bharat Ane Nenu. Hansal Mehta’s, Rajkummar Rao-starrer Omerta which was earlier scheduled to release this week, has now been postponed to May 4.
Beyond The Clouds
Majid Majidi’s Beyond The Clouds is the story of two siblings, Amir and Tara, and how they find happiness in separation and turbulent times. Relationships, emotions and family form the base of every Majid Majidi film. Beyond The Clouds focuses on familial relationships not bonded by blood, but by love. The film stars Ishaan Khatter and Malavika Mohanan as Amir and Tara. With music by A.R. Rahman, the cinematography is done by Anil Mehta and Hindi dialogues by Vishal Bhardwaj.
Nanu Ki Jaanu

Lucky Oye. Directed by Faraz Haider, the music is composed by Sajid-Wajid, Gunwant Sen, Sachin Gupta and Babli Huque-Meera. Abhay Deol’s last film was the not-so-impressive Happy Bhag Jayegi in 2016.

Directed by Koratala Siva, the film is Mahesh Babu’s 23rd film and the second one with the director. DVV Entertainments is bankrolling the film. Kiara Advani makes her Telugu debut in the film as Bharat’s love interest. Actor Devaraj plays the antagonist. Music is composed by Devi Sri Prasad and cinematography by Ravi K Chandran.
Suvarna Purushan is a Malayalam comedy, written and directed by Sunil Paveily. The movie stars Innocent, Lena, Sreejith Ravi in the lead roles. The movie depicts the struggle and difficulty faced by a theatre owner when he tries to release Mohanlal’s biggest blockbuster Pulimurugan.
