Khan filed for anticipatory bail a day after the court granted him interim protection from arrest in the case till the next hearing on October 12, the report further stated.

An FIR was filed against Khan on September 17 in a case of abetment to suicide, criminal intimidation, defamation, and common intention. The case was registered after Patil allegedly tried to take his life by overdosing on sleeping pills. After the incident, Patil’s manager had said that the model took the extreme step after being harassed by the actor.

Patil has since recovered.

Khan’s senior counsel Rajiv Chavan argued that the case against his client was false and filed with “malafide motive keeping in mind past grudges.’’ He also argued that IPC Section 306 (abetment to suicide) was wrongly applied in the case as Patil is still alive.

Additional public prosecutor Yogesh Dabke sought time to take instructions from investigating officers, and the case was thus adjourned to October 12.

Post the filing of the FIR, Khan had held a press conference where he accused Patil of selling fake steroids to fellow athlete Faujdar. Khan also stated that the matter was not between him and Patil and that he was only trying to help Faujdar get his money back.

Speaking at the press conference, Faujdar had said, “When I asked for money from Manoj Patil after he sold me the fake steroid, he said he would return it in some time, but 2-3 years have passed. When I called him 20-25 days ago, he hurled abuses at me. He even threatened me. I have all the recordings of the calls. I did not file a complaint with the police as I wanted my money back.”

Speaking to the media last week, Patil said, “Sahil Khan’s anticipatory bail has been rejected. He has been running from the police while he keeps saying ‘Satyameva Jayate’. I don’t understand why he is absconding”, a TOI report stated.

“We belong to common families and he has been harassing and abusing all these body builders. We only want justice and have complete faith in the judiciary. We have been told that in two days, they will issue a warrant against Sahil Khan and arrest him,” Patil added.
