Telugu actor Sai Dharam Tej, who is undergoing treatment at a private hospital in the city after a motorbike accident at Madhapur in Hyderabad late on Friday evening, is currently in a ‘stable’ condition, said hospital authorities.
On Saturday, a statement from Apollo Hospitals in Jubilee Hills, where the actor is being treated, said that he is in a stable condition and all his major organs are functioning well. Dharam Tej sustained soft tissue injuries and a collar bone fracture in the accident. According to the police, Dharam Tej fell off his bike when it skidded.
“He will continue to be on assisted respiration in ICU for controlled close monitoring and additional investigations will be performed during the day,” the statement from hospital authorities read.
“There are no major injuries to brain, spine, and major organs, based on preliminary investigations,” read a statement issued by Apollo Hospital on Friday. Hospital authorities added that there was no need for immediate surgical intervention.
The actor was initially admitted to Medicover Hospital in Hitec city, where he was intubated and put on assisted respiration. He was later shifted to Apollo Hospitals, Jubilee Hills after his condition was ‘stabilized’.
Speaking to Silverscreen India, Madhapur Assistant Commissioner of Police, Raghunandan Rao said, “The accident happened around 8.15 pm, and the place of accident comes under the Raidurgam police station limits. He was coming from Durgam Cheruvu Cable Bridge and was proceeding towards the side of Ikea and the Gachibowli area. He fell off from the bike as it skid, but his vehicle did not collide with any other vehicle,” he said.
The official added that to know if he was overspeeding, the surveillance camera footage has to be examined. “We have collected the footage and will be sending it to the concerned authorities to verify it. He was alone and did not have any pillion rider. It was a sports bike and he was wearing a helmet, that is why he did not receive any grave injuries,” the official said.
