Several celebrities took to their social media accounts to offer their condolences to Kumar and his family.

Bhatia was admitted to Mumbai’s Hiranandani Hospital on September 3. While details about her illness and treatment are not known, on Tuesday, her condition was said to be critical. Kumar had rushed back to Mumbai from London, where he had been shooting for a film, to be by his mother’s side.

Kumar was in the UK for the past couple of weeks shooting for Cinderella. The upcoming psychological thriller is his next project with director Ranjit M Tiwari, who helmed his last theatrical release, Bell Bottom. The film also stars Rakul Preet Singh. It is a supposed remake of the 2019 Telugu thriller Rakshasudu, itself a remake of the 2018 Tamil hit Ratsasan.

“Even as he has flown back to be with his mother, he has told his producers to carry on shooting with scenes that do not require his presence. All other work commitments of his also continue,” a source had earlier told Hindustan Times.

It is unclear how the demise of his mother will affect the production of the actor’s ongoing projects.
