Aryan Khan, son of actor Shah Rukh Khan and producer Gauri Khan, was remanded to NCB custody till October 7 by a Mumbai court on Monday, Live Law reported.
Khan was arrested on Sunday afternoon for alleged possession and consumption of illegal drugs after the NCB raided a cruise ship rave party.
The NCB registered a case under several sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, after officers seized 13 gm of cocaine, 21 gm of charas or hashish, 22 pills of MDMA (ecstasy), 5 gm mephedrone, and cash worth Rs 1.33 lakh at International Cruise Terminal, Green Gate Mumbai.
Khan’s lawyer, Satish Maneshinde, was applying for bail stating that nothing was found in Khan’s possession and an extension of custody based on WhatsApp chats should not be asked by the NCB.
The judge, after hearing both sides of the argument said, “I am of the view that investigation is of prime importance. Considering this aspect, the presence of the accused with NCB is necessary. Remanded till October 7.”
The NCB had earlier said that there was material in the form of WhatsApp chats against the three, allegedly ‘showing nexus with peddlers and suppliers on regular basis’. Thus, the organisation had applied for judicial custody of Khan and the others till October 11.
Along with Khan, two others – his friend Arbaaz Merchant and fashion designer Munmun Dhamecha – were also arrested in connection to the drug bust. Five others, namely Nupur Satija, Ishmeet Singh Chadha, Mohak Jaiswal, Gomit Chopra, and Vikrant Chhokar, were also arrested late on Sunday. Apart from them, a drug supplier was also taken into custody in the same case following a series of raids in Bandra, Andheri, and Lokhandwala, in the intervening hours of late Sunday night and early Monday. Reportedly, the supplier’s name was mentioned in the WhatsApp chat between Khan and Merchant.

The raid on Saturday happened during a major event on the Cordelia Cruises’ Empress ship, which was inaugurated just two weeks ago. Post the arrests, the cruise company said in a statement on Sunday that it had nothing to do with the incident.
