Cruise Ship Drug Case: Bombay High Court Issues Aryan Khan’s Bail Conditions

The Bombay High Court on Friday issued bail conditions of Aryan Khan, son of actor Shah Rukh Khan and producer Gauri Khan, who was arrested on October 3 in connection with the cruise ship drugs case.

Khan, along with his friend Arbaaz Merchant and fashion designer Munmun Dhamecha, was granted bail in the case on Thursday after spending 25 days in jail. The bail conditions issued by the Court on Friday are also applicable to Merchant and Dhamecha. 

According to Live Law, the first bail condition stated by Court is that they (Khan, Merchant, and Dhamecha) should execute a personal bond of Rs 1 lakh with one or more sureties in the like amount. They will also have to surrender their passports immediately to the special court and not leave the country without prior permission of the Court. 

Along with this, the three have also been advised that if they need to travel outside of Mumbai for any reason, they need to give their itinerary to the investigating officer. 

The rest of the conditions are as follows:

  • They shall not attempt to influence any witness in the case
  • Accused shall not make any statement in any form in the media
  • The accused shall attend the NCB Mumbai office each Friday between 11 am and 2 pm to mark their presence
  • They shall not indulge in any activities similar to the activities on the basis of which the Crime stand registered by the NCB
  • Accused shall not try to establish communication with co-accused or any other person involved directly or indirectly in similar activities or make any call to any person indulging in similar activities as alleged against them

The Court also stated that that in case any of the above bail conditions are violated, the anti-drugs agency shall be free to apply to the special judge for cancellation of bail. 

It also stated that the accused shall attend all the dates in court unless prevented by a reasonable cause and that once the trial begins, they shall not, in any manner, delay the trial proceedings.

Khan, along with the two others, is likely to get out of jail by Friday evening. Satish Manshinde, Khan’s lawyer, told ANI, ” We have received the order of the High Court. The process is on. Once the judge accepts the surety, then we will proceed with other formalities…all should be done by today evening.”

Post Khan’s bail, several celebrities took to social media and hailed the Court’s decision.

Khan had moved the High Court after his bail plea was rejected by a Special NDPS court on October 20.
