Kohli was detained by NCB after they recovered cocaine from his Mumbai residence. He was arrested along with a drug peddler Ajay Raju Singh.

An official informed PTI that after Kohli’s arrest, the NCB’s Mumbai zonal unit raided various parts of the city. The report further stated that the raids began late Sunday night at Juhu Gully in the western suburbs. During these raids, the NCB team arrested Mohammed Ajaz Sayyed alias Chiya Bhai and seized the drug mephedrone.

Based on the information given by Chiya Bhai, the NCB arrested Imran Ansari on Monday for his alleged role in purchasing drugs.

The official further told PTI that after these two arrests, a Nigerian national named Uba Chinoso Wizdom was detained with mephedrone in Nallasopara in the neighbouring Palghar district late Monday night. Wizdom is suspected to be the main supplier of the drug, the official further told the news organisation.

Early Tuesday morning, another Nigerian, Nwachiyaso Israel Nwachukwu alias Sam, was arrested from the Arrey Colony area. The mephedrone and cocaine found in his possession were seized as well.

The agency has so far arrested six persons, including Kohli. The actor will remain in custody till September 1. He was arrested under multiple sections of the NDPS (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances) Act.

Earlier, Hindi film and television actor Gaurav Dixit, who had fled his house in April after spotting NCB officials, was arrested. His name had cropped up during actor Ajaz Khan’s interrogation.
