Indian Celebrities Congratulate Biden and Harris on their Historic Win

Presidential candidate and former vice president of the US Joe Biden (77) was declared as the president elect on Saturday. Congratulating his victory, many Indian film personalities took to social media to welcome the people’s verdict.

The historic win of vice presidential candidate Kamala Harris also celebrated by many Indian celebrities. Harris (56) will be the first female, Black, Indian-American and Asian vice president of the US. Actors such as Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Kajal Aggarwal congratulated Harris and acknowledged her Indian origin.

They were among the first to express their joy and they noted how Harris’s victory was an inspiration for South-Asian women all over the world.

During the elections, Chopra Jonas and her husband Nick Jonas had been vocal about their support for  Harris. Here are some of the reactions from Indian actors:

Some celebrities also expressed their relief about Biden’s win and denying outgoing president Donald Trump a second term. Actors such as Abhay Deol and Riteish Deshmukh, who are known for their liberal views, were quick to showcase their happiness over Trump’s defeat. Deol even went on to repost an Instagram video calling out Trump’s racism.
