Naseeruddin Shah Who was Admitted to Hospital After Being Diagnosed With Pneumonia Doing Well; Likely to be Discharged on Friday

Naseeruddin Shah, the veteran Hindi actor who was admitted to Hinduja Hospital in Mumbai on Tuesday after being diagnosed with pneumonia, is doing well and is expected to be discharged on Friday, PTI reported.

Shah’s secretary, Jairaj, told PTI on Thursday, “He is doing well. He might be discharged tomorrow.”

Naseeruddin Shah has been diagnosed with a “small patch” of pneumonia in his lungs. On Wednesday, his wife Ratna Pathak Shah had told PTI that he is “responding well to the treatment” and everything was “under control.” He will be discharged soon, she added.

Among others, actor Anupam Kher also wished Shah a speedy recovery on social media. In Hindi he wrote, “Give it a quick shake off and get well!! Looking forward to working with you since a long time. Take care of yourself! Prayers for your good health.”

In April, 2020, after rumours about the veteran actor’s health did rounds on social media, his son Vivaan Shah tweeted “All well everyone! Baba’s just fine. All the rumours about his health are fake. He’s keeping well.”

Best known for films like Masoom, Sarfarosh, Iqbal, A Wednesday, Monsoon Wedding and Maqbool, Shah won his first National Award in 1979 for his role in Sparsh. He earned his second award for the 1984 film Paar and the actor’s 2005 film Iqbal fetched him his third National Award.

The 70-year-old actor was seen in a number of films in 2019 and 2020 including Vivek Agnihotri’s The Tashkent Files, Seema Pahwa’s Ramprasad Ki Tehrvi, and Zee5’s Mee Raqsam. He was also seen in Amazon Prime Video web series Bandish Bandits.

He will next be seen in the upcoming film Maarrich. Directed by debutant Dhruv Lather, Maarrich also features Tusshar Kapoor, Anita Hassanandani, Rahul Dev and Seerat Kapoor. Shah will also feature alongside Rasika Dugal in the upcoming film The Miniaturist Of Junagadh.
