Vijay Sethupathi’s Aide Attacked in Bengaluru Airport After Actor Refuses Selfie, No Complaint Filed

Vijay Sethupathi, the Tamil actor’s aide was attacked on Tuesday night at the Bengaluru airport after an altercation took place with a bystander. According to sources, the actor was returning from a shoot when a man in an inebriated state asked for a selfie and was refused the same.

As the actor’s aide was clearing the way, he allegedly shoved the bystander. Enraged by this, he allegedly attacked the aide. Sethupathi’s security personnel immediately surrounded him and took away the unidentified assailant.

The video of the incident had been going viral on Twitter since Tuesday night. In the video, a man is seen jumping on one of the actor’s aides and the police trying to stop the brawl. Sethupathi is seen getting startled by the incident and trying to stop the same. It has also been reported that actor Maha Gandhi was present at the scene as well.

No complaint has been filed.

“When actor Vijay Sethupathi’s personal assistant pushed a person to make way for the actor, in rage, the person kicked him from behind. There was an altercation but no case was registered,” a police officer told Indian Express.

According to a report in Deccan Herald, the attacker, who was also a co-passenger, apologised to the actor’s team and thus no official complaint was filed by either party. However, it has been reported that as the video has gone viral on social media, Bengaluru police registered a suo motu case.

Sethupathi had reportedly arrived in Bengaluru for the shoot of the upcoming premiere of Master Chef Tamil. The actor also has a number of films in the offing, including Tamil films Vikram and Kaathu Vaakula Rendu Kaadhal, Malayalam film 19(1)(a), and Hindi film Mumbaikar, among others.

The actor was recently honoured with the National Award for Best Supporting Actor for his performance in the film Super Deluxe.
