This direction came after Singh failed to appear before the court on Saturday citing poor health conditions. His counsel sought exemption from personal appearance for the singer and assured the court that he will appear at the next hearing, as per ANI

While directing Singh to personally appear before the law, the court said, “no one is above the law.” The singer was also asked to submit his medical reports and his income tax returns to the court.

Issuing a notice to Singh to file his reply by Friday, the court had also passed interim orders in favour of Talwar and restrained Singh from disposing of their jointly owned properties and the stridhan (the property given to a woman during her marriage) owned by his wife.

Earlier this month, Talwar filed a plea under the ‘Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act’ in Delhi’s Tis Hazari Court, and the case was registered on August 3 before Ms Tania Singh, Chief Metropolitan Magistrate of the court.

Talwar alleged that she was subjected to physical, verbal, and mental abuse at the hands of Singh on numerous occasions. She also alleged that Singh used to earn around Rs 4 crore a month through his songs, royalties and performances and that he got addicted to alcohol and drugs. She said he would often be paid in cash but would not disclose this to her. She also accused him of infidelity.

Talwar also mentioned in her plea that she has been living under the constant threat of physical harm.

On August 6, Singh issued a statement on social media refuting his wife’s allegations, which he said were ‘false and malicious‘. He also requested his fans to not draw any conclusions about him or his family while the case was going on.

Singh and Talwar got married on January 23, 2011, after being in a relationship for close to two decades. However, the rapper only introduced her to his fans in 2014 through an episode of the reality show India’s Raw Star.
