Yo Yo Honey Singh, the Hindi rapper-singer, issued a statement on social media on Friday about the domestic violence charges filed against him by his wife Shalini Talwar. Singh said in the statement that he has been associated with the industry for over 15 years and has worked with artists and musicians across the country. “Everyone is aware of my relationship with my wife, who has been an integral part of my crew for more than a decade now and always accompanied me to my shoots, events, and meetings.”

“I strongly refute all the allegations but will not comment any further because the matter is sub-judice before the Court of Law. I have full faith in the judicial system of this country, and I am confident that the truth will be out soon,” he further wrote.

The rapper ended his statement by saying, “The allegations are subject to be proven and the Hon’ble Court has provided me with an opportunity to reply to such allegations.”

Talwar, in her plea, alleged that she was subjected to physical, verbal, and mental abuse at the hands of Singh on numerous occasions. She also alleged that he got addicted to alcohol and drugs. Singh used to earn around Rs 4 crore a month through his songs, royalties, and performances, she said, and would often be paid in cash but not disclose this to her. Infidelity was also one of the charges she also alleged against him.

The plea was filed under the ‘Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act’ in Delhi’s Tis Hazari Court, and the case was registered on Tuesday.

Singh and Talwar got married on January 23, 2011, after being in a relationship for close to two decades. The rapper, however, introduced her to his fans only in 2014 in an episode of the reality show India’s Raw Star.

The court has issued a notice to Singh to file his reply by August 28.
