T.P. Senkumar, who retired as the director-general of police on June 30, said that there was no evidence of Dileep’s involvement in the abduction and assault of a popular Malayalam actress.
The former police chief told reporters in Kochi: “I cannot say if he is involved in the case or not. But on the day Dileep was questioned, there was no evidence against him.”
“Evidence is different from suspicion,” he added.
Dileep was questioned by Kerala Police for over 13 hours, following reports of his involvement in the abduction of the actress. One of the accused in the case, Pulsar Suni, had even claimed that people close to Dileep had asked him to abduct the actress. All these claims are being investigated by the Police.

Meanwhile, the Kerala Women’s Commission has registered a case against popular Malayalam actor Dileep and three others from the industry over their alleged derogatory comments against an actress who was abducted and molested in a moving car earlier this year.
The case was registered on a complaint by the Women’s Collective in Cinema (WCC) and Women Lawyers Association.
“A case was registered today and evidence collection will begin soon,” V U Kuriakose, Director Women’s Commission, told PTI.
The case related to certain comments made by Dileep, Salim Kumar, Aju Joseph and director Saji Nandiyat on social media sites.
