Hollywood Actor Jon Voight Tweets Video Saying Only Trump Can Save the Nation

Hollywood actor Jon Voight took to Twitter to declare that “Donald Trump is the only man who can save this nation.”

In a two-minute video that the actor posted with the caption ‘America’, he openly displayed his support for outgoing US President Donald Trump and warned of the dangers that the country might face after President-elect Joe Biden steps in.

Voight is a critically acclaimed actor, who won the Academy Award for Coming Home (1978). He was last seen in the television drama series Ray Donovan, where he played the role of Mickey Donovan. He is the father of Oscar-winning actor Angelina Jolie.

According to the Independent, Voight uploaded a similar video on November 11, where he termed Biden as Satan and stated that the country was in the midst of the greatest fight since the Civil War.

The 81-year-old actor also criticised California Governor Gavin Newsom for placing new restrictions due to a surge in Covid-19 cases. “Our state, California, is being ruled by a Leftist mob. Governor Newsom is taking away our freedom, your freedom. He is a disgrace to mankind — he and his relative, Nancy Pelosi, who has tried to bring President Trump down,” he said in the video.

He said that the governor has destroyed many lives by shutting down small businesses as part of lockdown measures.

In the video, Voight said that Trump should approach the Supreme Court to tackle “the issue of fraudulent voting” in the 2020 presidential elections. “Let us bring justice to the Supreme Court and let them see how corrupt the Left is with their fraudulent votes. Let the truth show itself,” he said.

In the video, he acknowledged that many of his peers disagreed with him and accused him of preaching violence. He retorts by saying that “Leftists” are the ones who create violence.

Having been an open Trump supporter, Voight has showcased his admiration for Trump on many occasions. In 2019, Trump awarded Voight the National Medal of Arts for his contribution to cinema.

Jolie is yet to comment on her father’s videos. A CBS story shows that apart from Voight, other celebrities who support Trump include actor Isaiah Washington and MMA fighter Conor Mcgregor.

Voight’s video comes at a time when the United States is seeing as many as 120,000 to 200,000 Covid-19 cases per day, as per NBC News.

President Donald Trump has been accused of focusing on his claims of voter fraud rather than controlling the rising number of cases as reported by Al Jazeera and CNN. Despite the General Services Administration announcing that they will begin the formal transition process for the Biden administration to take over, Trump tweeted on Friday that he will leave only if Joe Biden proves that he won 80 million votes. Similarly, the Guardian also reported that he will concede if the electoral college votes for Biden.
