Vels Film International‘s Ishari K Ganesh has announced a free education scheme for the children of frontline warriors who have been serving and protecting people for the past four months from COVID19. The Enai Noki Paayum Thota producer who is also the founder and chancellor of Vels University has agreed to provide about 300 undergraduate seats under each course at his institution for the children of nurses, sanitation workers, and police personnel without any fees.

The scheme named ‘Vels Free Education’ is applicable for over 50 courses that are available at the institution in the forthcoming academic year. The producer and institution have decided to provide free education as a token of gratitude for the contribution of nurses, sanitation workers, and police personnel during these unprecedented times.

Students can either register on the website of the university or contact the university staff in person for the same. The selection of candidates is based on their marks.

He has also requested other institutions to follow suit and help in the education of more such children.

The Twitter handle of Vels Film International had put out a tweet saying there would be an announcement from Ishari in the evening. But this announcement came as a surprise to followers who’d assumed that it was an announcement about his next production.

Nevertheless, the announcement has gone down well with the people who have taken to social media to thank and appreciate the producer for his timely decision.

On the work front, Vels Film International, whose last release Seeru starring Jiiva and Riya Suman fared decently at the box office, has Varun starrer Joshua: Imai Pol Kaakha and Shiva starrer Sumo ready for release.

Seeru helmed by Rathna Siva revolved around a guy from a small-town who unexpectedly gets caught up in a tussle between a ruthless criminal lawyer and a bunch of schoolgirls while trying to thank his pregnant sister’s saviour.
