Vikram Refutes Rumours About Quitting Acting; His PRO Says Pinkvilla Story Fabricated

Pinkvilla, a ‘news, and gossip’ website reported that actor Vikram will soon quit acting and focus on his son Dhruv Vikram‘s film career, which has just begun with Adithya Varma, the official Tamil remake of Telugu blockbuster Arjun Reddy. In response to this, the actor’s personal PRO took to Twitter to clarify the ‘baseless rumour’ and requested media organisations to verify the authenticity of content before publishing.

The tweet read, “We are surprised to find baseless rumours doing the rounds. Credits Pinkvilla. Having earned the love of fans, media and critics alike with his work and dedication, everyone is well aware that Chiyaan Vikram has devoted his life to his craft. He is currently working on Cobra, Ponniyin Selvan and another with Seven Screen Studios. Such mischievous reportage, especially at a time when people are already in a state of panic about a global disaster, is irresponsible and reprehensible. It is sad to see such stories written with no understanding of South Indian cinema and without the basic courtesy and principle of checking with those concerned. We urge media houses to clarify with us before reporting further on such fabricated stories.”

Popular Tamil news channel, Puthiya Thalaimurai also reported the news which has since been taken down.

Vikram is currently working on Ajay Gnanamuthu‘s Cobra and Mani Ratnam‘s Ponniyin Selvan. The first look poster of the former and the title font of the latter were have been unveiled. While Cobra is being bankrolled by Lalith Kumar’s Seven Screen Studio, Ponniyin Selvan is being produced by Mani Ratnam’s Madras Talkies and Subaskaran‘s Lyca Productions.
