Vennila Veedu Movie Review – Times of India

The characterization of Ilavarasi is quite interesting — she doesn’t turn hostile immediately after the necklace is gone and even tries to bring back the shell-shocked Thenmozhi to normalcy. The director nicely portrays how she is influenced by her father into mistrusting and acting against her friend. The sub-plot involving Karthik’s wayward brother-in-law, and the real estate agent trying to cash in on his plight are plain melodrama and the latter only makes us wonder why Karthik, having spent some time in the city, does not go to another agent to sell his ancestral land. The tragedy in the climax doesn’t feel organic. Some foreshadowing could have helped but the ending does leave a lump in your throat.
