Enakku Veru Engum Kilaigal Kidaiyathu  is  full of wisecracks. Goundamani talks a mile a minute, trying to squeeze laughs out of every other scene. He even throws out Facebook and Twitter references occasionally, in a bid to keep the laughs going. In all this, Goundamani and the film’s director Ganapathy Balamurugan lose sight on something far more important – an actual plot.

When we are done with Meendum Oru Kaadhal Kadhai, all we remember is that a Hindu man and a Muslim woman fell in love. Does anything else leave an indelible impression on our minds? The answer is, unfortunately, no.

There’s a spot left open for an Indian superhero. Rakesh Roshan’s mushy Krissh couldn’t fill it. Neither could Shah Rukh Khan’s inane Ra One. The newest contender is Remo D’Souza’s A Flying Jatt, starring Tiger Shroff, Amrita Singh, Jacqueline Fernandez, and Kay Kay Menon. At times resembling an animated children’s movie about environmental protection, A Flying Jatt is certainly enjoyable. But it’s not going to set any superhero trends.

A Vairamuthu song was played at the state funeral of S R Nathan, the two-time president of Singapore. According to lyricist Vairamuthu, the Porkaalam song was S R Nathan’s favourite.

“He once told me that of all my songs, particularly this number, evoked inexpressible feeling. He could never locate the birth place of his ancestors in Tamil Nadu and he would take solace in the fact that it could be one of the places that finds reference in the song,” said Mr. Vairamuthu.
