T Rajender has slammed the Central Government’s decision to impose 28% tax on regional cinema. At a recent event, he said:

“Except Kamal Haasan, nobody has come out in protest against the Central Govt’s decision to impose 28% GST on cinema. This is an attempt on the part of the Centre to suppress, sideline and ultimately, destroy regional cinema. Yet, none of the so-called big actors have said anything about it. I plan to hold a protest against GST soon.”

The Bombay HC has questioned the Maharashtra Government’s decision to allow actor Sanjay Dutt’s early release from prison. “Was the DIG, Prisons consulted or did the jail superintendent directly send his recommendation to the governor? Isn’t there a uniform procedure followed for all prisoners who receive good conduct reports? ” the bench asked.

“Also, how did the authorities assess that Dutt’s conduct was good? When did they get the time to make such assessment when he was out on parole half the time?” the bench said.
