A local court dismissed a private complaint seeking prosecution of Bollywood actor Ajay Devgn alleging his upcoming film Shivaay hurts religious feelings. The petitioner said a song in the film shows scantily dressed girls dancing which hurts the religious feeling of Hindus and sought prosecution of Devgn and Nihalani under sections 295A (deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage religious feelings) of IPC.

Nadigar Sangam is taking a strong stand against unqualified film critics who publish their reviews over the internet. Over the past few months, producers have become increasingly disgruntled with the quality of film reviews found online. Several members of the film fraternity have already voiced their displeasure at these critics and have filed many complaints with the Producer’s Council. The latest to join the fray is Nadigar Sangam. Through a press release earlier this week, the Sangam and its President Nasser warned online critics that strict action would be taken if they continue to review films ‘irresponsibly’.
