What’s making the news

Sanal Kumar Sasidharan, director of S Durga, who hosted his own film festival, Kazhcha Indie Film Festival (KIFF) in protest against the International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK), hit out at the IFFK organisers saying that the festival was started to promote the works of independent filmmakers but that is not the case anymore.

Meanwhile, filmmaker Kamal, chairman of the Kerala State Chalachitra Academy hit back saying, “Let him best not have a feeling that he is not just the only independent filmmaker around. There are several others also. Look into the films that have been selected for the ongoing IFFK. It includes films from more than 50 per cent independent filmmakers and none of them has a problem.” He further added that S Durga can be screened at IFFK provided the film gets clearance from the censor board or the court.
