What’s making the news

Suriya issued a statement to his fans on Saturday morning after a group of them staged a protest in front of the Sun TV office in Chennai. A few days back, in a segment that was aired on the Sun Music television channel, two VJs had joked about Suriya’s height. It led to angry reactions not just from the actor’s fans but also from the Tamil fraternity.

Suriya, in his statement, said that there is no point in responding to low-level criticism and it is better to spend time and energy on useful deeds.

On a similar note, Pawan Kalyan appealed to his party cadres and fans to exercise restraint and focus on people’s welfare. It came a day after eggs were hurled at Telugu film critic Kathi Mahesh.

Kathi Mahesh, a popular Telugu film critic and director, has been trolling Pawan Kalyan for quite some time. He is not only critical of the actor’s politics, who is the founder-president of the Jana Sena Party, but has made some personal comments against the actor. As a result, the film critic has often been at loggerheads with the vociferous Pawan Kalyan fans.
