Vijay Sethupathi Joins ‘Seethakathi’; Dileep Defends Kavya Madhavan

Curtain Raiser from silverscreen.in

From Vijay Sethupathi’s Seethakathi to Dileep’s staunch support for Kavya Madhavan, here’s a quick look at all the news in cinema today.

Actor Thiagarajan has confirmed that the Queen remake is still on, and has not been shelved. The team is looking for a new female lead, after talks with Tamannaah Bhatia did not pan out as expected.

Vishnu Vishal’s next has been titled Silukkuvarapatti Singham.

Balaji Tharaneetharan is working on Seethakathi again, this time with Vijay Sethupathi in the lead. The director began work on the project after Naduvula Konjam Pakkatha Kaanom, but abandoned the project later due to lack of funding.

Actor Dileep has refuted rumours that his second wife, actress Kavya Madhavan, was the reason behind his divorce from actress Manju Warrier. He told Deccan Chronicle”Never. I can swear in the name of God that Kavya had nothing to do with my marital troubles. Liking somebody does not mean that you are having an affair with that person. I have known Kavya for a long time. The public has been made to believe that Kavya is the reason for all this. My former wife and I were not mere partners. We were strong friends. And it’s only saddening to hear when people say that such a relation came to an end because of a single person. If Kavya was actually the reason, how would I dare to go ahead with a decision to marry her? And it’s not like I kept a first wife and got married to another. I was divorced and after 2-3 years only I made a decision to marry again.”

Ram Gopal Varma suffered yet another case of foot-in-mouthitis earlier this week. The director, in a phone conversation with actor Vidyut Jammwal, called Tiger Shroff a “transgender”. Incensed by the remark, Jammwal posted a recording of the entire conversation on social media. An unrepentant Ram Gopal Varma continues to justify his actions.

Meanwhile, Tiger Shroff has said that while he would love to comment on the issue, it would not be inappropriate to do so.
