Boomerang stars Atharvaa, Megha Akash, RJ Balaji and Indhuja Ravichandran, among others. In the trailer, Atharvaa’s character says: “We have to get down to the fields and work instead of voting and waiting for the politicians to bring about change.” The trailer also shows Atharvaa leading a crowd to till the land.

The trailer hints at the movie being a political one too. It talks about NEET, social media-led agitations, and how politicians stall decision making in a democracy. Two songs were unveiled at the event.

Kannan started off assisting Mani Ratnam in movies such as  Kannathil Muthamittaal and Aaytha Ezhuthu before making his debut with Jayamkondaan. Reminiscing about his stint at Madras Talkies, Suhasini Mani Ratnam, who also plays a role in the movie, said that Kannan should also give importance to self-satisfaction. “I heard everyone call Kannan their favourite. But, Kannan should make it a point to be his favourite too, by satisfying his creative hunger,” she said, adding that the one thing she learnt from observing Kamal Haasan and Mani Ratnam was that it was important to make movies one enjoyed.

The music for the movie is composed by Radhan of Arjun Reddy fame. “He’s worked in a blockbuster Telugu movie, and I was surprised when I found out he’s from Chennai,” said Atharvaa about Radhan.

Apart from the cast and crew of the movie, the function was also attended by directors such as Samuthirakani, Milind Rau and Vijay.
