Jumanji, 1995
This film is a part of every 90’s kid’s growing up years. Two children face hurdles while attempting to save a man trapped inside a surreal boardgame. The brilliant special effects and the perfect dose of spills and thrills makes the movie a personal favourite even today. Starring Robin Williams, Jonathan Hyde, Kirsten Dunst, the film is streaming on Amazon Prime.
The Incredibles, 2004
This amazing family with superhero powers left me in awe back when it first released. It ticked all the boxes for a family entertainer — humour, love, action… It stars Craig T Nelson, Samuel L Jackson, and Holly Hunter and is streaming on Youtube.
Taare Zameen Par, 2007
Another movie that was an integral part of my childhood. A boy with dyslexia discovers his hidden talents with the help of his teacher… what a dream, especially because of the way our schools beat all creativity out of us right off the bat. I cannot forget the craze for that ‘Bum Bum Bole’ classroom song and the iconic ‘step’. Starring Aamir Khan and Darsheel Safary, the film is streaming on Netflix.

My Friend Ganesha, 2007
Despite the poor special effects and visuals, this film did make me squeal when it hit screens. It made my younger self strongly believe that Ganesha was and will always be a friend to everyone who yearns for one. If you were raised on a strong dose of Pogo TV like I was, there’s no way you could’ve missed this film.
Wall-E, 2008
A movie way ahead of its time that spoke of the environmental crisis we face now more than ever. The film is about a robot couple who strive to bring the earth back to its normal state. Adorable characters aided by a cutesy, hilarious, yet strong plot make this the evergreen movie it is. The love forged between Wall-E and Eva was a delight. Wall-E is streaming on Hotstar.
