Weekend Watch: Bollywood Releases Veere Di Weeding And Bhavesh Joshi To Compete Against Nagarjuna’s Officer

With the releases of three movies in three different genres, cinephiles are in for a feast this weekend. The female buddy film Veere di Wedding will see Bollywood’s two favourite actresses Kareena and Sonam Kapoor. In Vikramaditya Motwane’s Bhavesh Joshi, the box-office will witness the rise of a new Indian superhero through actor Harhavardhan Kapoor and lastly, the Telugu industry will see a crime-action flick in filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma’s Officer, with Nagarjuna in the lead role.



Veere di Wedding

Directed by Shashanka Gosh the story of Veere di Wedding revolves around the lives of four best friends, who are on their way to find true love. However, their strong friendship is put to test when an unusual event happens. A female buddy comedy film, the film’s trailer and poster gives out an image of an Indian version of the Hollywood movie Bridesmaids. Actors in the leading roles are Kareena Kapoor, Sonam Kapoor, Swara Bhaskar and Shika Talsania.

The film is co-produced by Anil Kapoor, Rhea Kapoor, Ekta Kapoor and Nikhil Dwivedi. The music of the film is composed by Shashwat Sachdev, Vishal Mishra, QARAN and White Noise while the lyrics are penned by Anvita Dutt Guptan, Raj Shekhar, Rupin Pahwa, White Noise, Shashwat Sachdev, Badshah, Shellee and Gaurav Solanki. The first song of the film, ‘Tareefan’ was released on 2 May 2018.

Bhavesh Joshi

This Bollywood superhero movie is directed by Vikramaditya Motwane under Phantom Films banner. The film chronicles the life of a young man who wants to do the right and challenge the wrong. And on this journey, he discovers that he’s destined to do bigger things, which will transform him from a common man into a Superhero. Mirzya actor Harshavardhan Kapoor is the leading man in the film as Siku who eventually becomes the Superhero to fight the evil.

Written by Vikramaditya Motwane, Anurag Kashyap and Abhay Koranne, the music of the film is composed by Amit Trivedi while lyrics are penned by Amitabh Bhattacharya, Anurag Kashyap, Babu Haabi and Naezy.




Officer is a Telugu movie starring Akkineni Nagarjuna in the main role. It is an action crime drama produced and directed by Ram Gopal Varma. There is a lot of interesting buzz surrounding the movie that the director Ram Gopal Varma has copied the film from the Hollywood movie Taken.
The basic plot also suggests the same storyline as Taken. The story revolves around a  police officer who hunts down the criminals behind his daughter’s kidnap. Nagarjuna & Ram Gopal Varma are pairing up almost after 25 years, with this being the fifth film in their combination. Their previous works were Siva (1989), Shiva (1990), Antham/Drohi(1992) and Govinda Govinda (1994). Music is composed by Ravi Shankar and lyrics were written by Sira Sri.
