12th CIFF to Begin on December 18

The 12th edition of Chennai International Film Festival will be held from December 18 to 25. 171 movies from 45 countries will be screened at Woodlands, Woodlands Symphony, Inox (2 screens), Casino and Russian Centre of Science and Culture. 12 Tamil films have been shortlisted out of the 22 entries. A three-member jury, which includes actress Poornima Bhagyaraj, would select three films for special prizes. Also, a special exhibition of the photographs of dying theaters across South India will be organised.

E. Thangaraj, festival director and general secretary of Indo-Cine Appreciation Foundation said that CIFF is the biggest film festival in India to be conducted by independent institutions and film lovers in the city.

The 12 Tamil films that participate under the competition category are Ennathan Pesuvatho, Kathai Thiraikathai Vasanam Iyakkam, Kutram Kadithal, Mundasupatti, Sathuranga Vettai, Salim, Sigaram Thodu, Pannaiyarum Padminiyum, Poovarasam Peepee, Thegidi, and Vennila Veedu.
