Filmmaker S.S Rajamouli could have released his upcoming magnum opus, Baahubali: The Beginning in 3D, but hasn’t, because he isn’t a fan of the technology. He says 3D is just not his cup of tea. According to him, the technology might add scale, but reduces depth.

While he agrees that Baahubali is all about scale, Rajamouli wasn’t keen on compromising depth. The film has been shot in a 16:9 format. This will give audiences an experience of watching a picture bigger than the one created by normal cinema-scope formats. None of Rajamouli’s previous films have released in 3D.
The film, which features Prabhas Varma and Rana Daggubati in the titular roles, is slated for a theatrical release in Telugu, Hindi, Tamil and Malayalam on July 10. Anushka Shetty and Tamannah Bhatia feature in important roles, along with Nasser, Sathyaraj, Ramya Krishnan and Sudeep.
