The two minutes nineteen seconds trailer begins by establishing its two lead characters – Ram and Janu. Vijay Sethupathi and Trisha play high school sweethearts of the ’96 batch who meet each other after years at a school reunion. While their friends are worried about the outcome, the two are surprised, hesitant and delighted at the same time to be in each other’s company. As they try to bridge the years lost and reconnect, the trailer gives us glimpses of their life and bond in high-school. The trailer indicates an intense and complicated past and a hopeful future. There is no dramatic declarations or over-the-top gestures from the lead protagonists, but their chemistry piques interest. The lead actors share moments of joy and despair. The background music – mellow and sublime – only helps in setting the mood.

The trailer ends with Trisha hinting that she would like to reveal something, but decides against it. Incidentally, the title denotes the year Ram and Janu met for the first time.

The film marks the directorial debut of C. Prem Kumar, who had earlier worked as a cinematographer in Naduvula Konjam Pakkatha Kaanom, the sleeper hit known for Vijay Sethupathi’s popular ‘medula oblongata’ dialogue.
