The manufacturing industry vs the agricultural industry. It might sound monotonous and boring, but somewhere Laabam promises to stand out with its impactful dialogues and blatant spewing of facts that no other film, let alone trailer, might’ve attempted so far.

The fact that the corporate sector has made us believe that they’re required for the agricultural industry to flourish while it’s the dead opposite, how theoretical Marxism is not the way to people’s heart, the deceptive prices given for farmers’ crops, and the link between economic power and political power turns out to be topical now more than ever before.

Going by the trailer, Jagapathi Babu plays the antagonist, and Shruti, who appears sporadically, seems to have landed an impactful role.

7C’s Entertainment Private Limited took to Twitter to release the trailer.

The film speaks of the exploitation farmers faced right from the British period and will show their plight today. It also has its share of commercial elements. Shruthi will reportedly play a musician named Clara in the film.

Apart from the lead pair, the film stars actors Kalaiarasan, Sathish, Sai DhanshikaRamesh ThilakDaniel Annie Pope, Prithivi Rajan, Nithish Veera, Jai Varman and Jagapathi Babu in important roles. Ramji is handling cinematography, Imman is composing music, V Selvakumar is helming art and N Ganesh Kumar is editing.

Recently, the team had commenced with dubbing and had released pictures of Vijay Sethupathi at it. Along with him, Kalaiarsan was also to be found.

Recently, Shruti made a return to playback singing with a song for the film in the lyrics of Yugabharathi, a glimpse of which released on her birthday. Last year, Imman had asked Vijay TV’s Kalakka Povathu Yaaru fame Naveen to perform an intro mimicry act for a song rendered by Sunidhi Chauhan. He also brought onboard singers Srinidhi, Divya Kumar, and Narayanan Ravishankar to croon for the film.

Laabam will be released in theatres once it is safe for them to open. Watch the trailer of Laabam here:
