The film is set to be a romantic drama, written and directed by Mohanakrishna Indraganti. It is backed by Mahendra Babu and Kiran Ballapalli.

Speaking to Silverscreen India, Indraganti talks about the film,“The film is about the role that family plays in a girl’s life, and the upheaval that her love story brings to them. Unlike the usual template, where two people fall in love and parents are against it, here, under unusual circumstances, she has to face them and win them over, while having a conflict. She falls in love with the protagonist, who is a commercial filmmaker (Sudheer Babu), the impact it creates, and how she battles some of the notions of the filmmaking world. It has a family drama element in it, as well.”

Calling it his “most emotional and intense film”, the filmmaker mentions that Aa Ammayi Gurinchi Meeku Cheppali will be set against the backdrop of the film industry. “I have always wanted to make a trilogy on the filmmaking world. This is my second film after Sammohanam, and I have an idea for the third one as well, which I will begin with, later. In Aa Ammayi, there won’t be too many filmmaking nitty-gritty, but it is set with that background in mind,” he adds.

The upcoming film will mark the second collaboration of the filmmaker with Sudheer, after Sammohanam and V. Krithi was cast before the release of her debut film Uppena. Apart from the leads, the cast includes Srinivas Avasarala, Vennela Kishore, Rahul Ramakrishna, Srikanth Iyengar, Kalyani Natarajan in supporting roles. “I had cast Krithi for her innocence and wanted someone who was not overexposed. She plays a doctor. Rahul plays a writer, Vennela Kishore plays Sudheer’s co-director. This has given a beautiful dimension,” he says.

Indraganti began to write the script in November 2020 and completed it in a couple of months. Pointing out that he does not like to repeat genres through his films, he said that the film’s story developed “organically.” The film went on floors in March 2021 but halted its production, due to the pandemic. It resumed in July and wrapped up in December. It is currently in the post-production stages. It was shot by cinematographer PG Vinda majorly in Hyderabad and Goa, with Marthand K Venkatesh handling the edit. The music will be composed by Vivek Sagar, with five songs.

Talking about the film’s premiere, Indraganti says that the team awaits an opportunity for the right timing, reaffirming that it will be a theatrical release. “This film is one to be watched with family, especially women who face prejudices and obstacles in certain fields, that men don’t face. I would ideally want for a family to watch it together, so it’s a definite theatre release,” he adds.

Indraganti mentions with certainty that he won’t be revisiting the romantic drama genre, after this film and is looking to experiment with other genres.
