This film marks Khan’s fifth collaboration with the producers; the other projects being Rang De Basanti, Delhi Belly, PK and Dangal.

Salute is directed by Mahesh Mathai, who is known for ad-films and a few movies like Bhopal Express (1999) and Broken Thread (2007).

Aamir Khan’s previous experience with a biopic was his blockbuster Dangal, based on the Phogats and their tryst with wrestling. The actor is currently shooting for Vijay Krishna Acharya’s Thugs of Hindostan, which also stars Amitabh Bachchan and Katrina Kaif. The film went on floors in Malta earlier this month.
