Aashiq Abu’s Rani Padmini Begins On April 20

Director Aashiq Abu’s next project – Rani Padmini – will start rolling on April 20. The film has Rima Kallingal and Manju Warrier playing the titular roles – Rani and Padmini. The first look of the film was released by the director on his Facebook page:

The film, reportedly, will have a October 2015 release.

Aashiq, who entered Mollywood with Daddy Cool in 2009, shot to fame with the critically acclaimed 22 Female Kottayam which was released in 2012. It had Rima Kallingal, who later became his life partner, playing a Bangalore-based nurse seeking revenge against the men who sexually and emotionally assaulted her.

Aashiq’s last film – Gangster, starring Mammootty, fell flat at the box office, garnering extremely bad reactions from critics.
