Singh, who has co-produced movies like Simran and Aligarh, reportedly approached Bachchan after purchasing the rights for the French film. He has previously considered casting both Abhishek and Aishwarya Rai for a movie.

“Shaailesh had earlier approached both of them to play cops in a film based on the UP police, but had shelved the plans,” says a source in a DC report.

“But he is keen to get Jr Bachchan to play a cop again in this film,” the source adds.

Talking about the movie’s plot, the source says, “The film is about a turncoat cop who has a fling with the underworld. His life is in a mess when he and his partner are caught flicking cocaine from a powerful drug mafia. His son is kidnapped and he fights to get his son back from the drug kingpin.”

The rest of the cast is yet to be finalized. “The villain’s role is also a very powerful one and Abhishek has asked for a clarification on what the final casting will be, before he inks the deal,” says the source.

Abhishek Bachchan had taken a sabbatical following the success of Housefull 3. He made a comeback with last year’s Manmarziyaan. His performance as Robbie Singh, Tapsee Pannu’s second love interest in the film’s love triangle, won him appreciation. Directed by Anurag Kashyap, the movie also featured Vicky Kaushal.

Abhishek had also lent his voice to the Hindi version of Mowgli: The Legend of Jungle. He had the part of Bagheera’s character.
