Abhishek Bachchan will play poet Sahir Ludhianvi in an upcoming biopic. The actor is reportedly working hard to lose weight for the role. Sanjay Leela Bhansali is the producer. Debutant Jasmeet Reen has been roped in as the director. The rest of the cast details are awaited.
Ludhianvi was a prolific poet and lyricist responsible for songs such as Jinhe Naaz Hai Hind Par Woh Kahaan Hai (Pyaasa) and Woh Subah Kabhi Toh Aayegi (Phir Subah Hogi).
Work on the project is expected to begin soon. This is the third film in which Bachchan plays a real-life character, after Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Se and Guru.
