After the film, director Shankar confirmed his long-pending sequel of the movie Indian, with its first look saying, “Older, wiser and deadlier.”

Since the release of the poster, announcements have been made about the remaining cast and crew. The team confirmed that Kajal Aggarwal will play the female lead, actor Delhi Ganesh has joined for a supporting role, and actor Siddarth is expected to don the role of cop. Anirudh will compose music for the film, and Ram Varman will be the cinematographer.

Earlier, it was said that Ajay Devgn would play the negative role, but the actor opted out due to unknown reasons. This lead to reports that Akshay Kumar will be the replacement, but sources now say that talks are on between the team and Abhishek Bachchan for the role.

In the National award winning 1996 movie Indian, actor Kamal Hassan played a dual role in which the protagonist Senapathy kills government officials who are involved in corruption. The film received extraordinary reception among the audience. Senapathy was fondly called ‘Indian Thaththa’ for his role.

Meanwhile, Kamal Hassan has been actively involved in politics since last year. After the launch of his party Makkal Needhi Maiam in February, he hinted that Indian 2 might be his last film. Expectations have already been high as usual for Shankar’s next directorial venture.

Produced by Lyca Productions, the film is scheduled for a Pongal 2020 release.
