A report in The Hindu said that Parinamam, a long-time activist friend of late writer D Jayakanthan, will write a song for SP Jhananathan’s upcoming film, Purampokku Engira Podhuvudamai. The song is for a sequence in which jail inmates celebrate their annual day inside the prison, the report added – “The song will take on the Indian judicial system – on how people are punished on the basis of laws written by the British. Parinamam spent around 60 days in the Madurai jail in the 70s as a political prisoner and that experience helped him write the song.”

The film has music by debut composer Varshan. The cast includes Arya, Vijay Sethupathy, Shaam and Karthika Nair. The film is likely to release on May 1.
