Actor Praveen Kumar Joins The Cast Of Lokesh Kanagaraj’s ‘Thalapathy 64’

Ever since the announcement of Thalapathy 64 was made, speculations about the cast and crew members have been widespread on social media. The team now seems to have on board a host of talents including 96 fame Gouri G Kishan, VJ Ramya and actor-singer Andrea Jeremiah amongst others.

The latest to reportedly join the crew is Praveen Kumar who debuted as the lead in Vi Anand‘s Appuchi Gramam (2014). He was also a part of the Viu Tamil web series Door No. 403 and has four unreleased projects — Oththaiku Oththai alongside Atharvaa, Kavari Maan Parambarai alongside Vishnu Vishal, two untitled movies, one starring actor Jai in the lead and one with actors Munishkanth and Sendrayan.

Thalapathy 64 helmed by Lokesh Kanagaraj stars actors Vijay and Malavika Mohanan in the lead roles. Vijay will reportedly play a professor in this commercial film and will be seen in a new avatar compared to his other flicks.

Recently, stills from the Delhi University where the team is currently shooting did the rounds on social media.

Actress Malavika Mohanan has completed shooting her portion in Delhi yesterday and has flown back to Mumbai while Vijay Sethupathi will reportedly join the sets in the beginning of December after the schedule break at the end of the month. The team has already completed the introduction song of the star and an important fight sequence in the film.


The untitled film is being bankrolled by Xavier Britto under his XB Film Creators banner. The film’s cast includes Antony Varghese, Shanthnu Bhagyaraj, Lintu Rony, Mathew Varghese, Sunil Reddy, Srinath, Prem Kumar, Soundarya Nandakumar, Chetan, Azhagam Perumal, Brigida Saga, Sanjeev, and Sriman.

Sathyan Sooryan is handling cinematography, Anirudh is composing music and Philomin Raj is on the edit. Aadai fame director Rathna Kumar has been brought on board to pen additional screenplay, while Dinesh Kumar is choreographing the dance and Stunt Silva for the action sequences.

Thalapathy 64 will hit screens in Summer 2020.


Meanwhile, the buzz is that the actor will next be associating with Thadam fame director Magizh Thirumeni who is currently working on a project with actor Udhayanidhi Stalin. His previous film Bigil helmed by director Atlee recently completed 25 days since  release and has reportedly emerged as the industry’s highest grosser for the year, though official numbers are yet to be released.

Malavika Mohanan will next be seen in the Telugu film Hero alongside Vijay Devarakonda helmed by Anand Annamalai.
