Actor Shaam will debut in Malayalam cinema with the film The Great Father. He will play a police officer in the film. Reports say that the role was first offered to actor Prithviraj, who had to turn it down due to date issues.

The actor has previously played cops in films like Kick, Race Gurram, Thillalangadi and last year’s Purampokku Engira Podhu Udaimai. Recently, he had been getting offers for supporting and negative roles in Telugu. Apart from The Great Father, Shaam will also be acting in a trilingual film titled Kaaviyan. Here too, he will essay the role of a cop. The film will star actresses Athmeeya and Sridevi Kumar. The film will be shot completely in the USA.
The Great Father stars Mammootty, Arya, and Sneha, apart from Shaam. The movie is directed by debutant Haneef Adhani and will have music has composed by Gopi Sundar. The film will be produced jointly by Prithviraj, Arya, and Santhosh Sivan. Apart from producing the film, Arya will also be playing the villain in this film. The movie will be shot primarily in Thrissur, Wagamon and Kochi.
