Actor Shakthi, of Bigg Boss Tamil fame, was reportedly arrested and later released by the Anna Nagar police in Chennai last night. He was charged for drunken driving.
According to Puthiya Thalaimurai, the actor was drunk and was over-speeding. He allegedly hit a moving car near Choolaimedu, then drove even faster without stopping to look out. The people in the locality chased and caught him red-handed. The owner of the car that was hit filed a complaint in Anna Nagar police station.
Based on this complaint, the police filed a case against Shakthi for drunken drive. Later that night, he was released on bail.
Shakthi, who began his career as a child artist in his father P Vasu’s films, made his comeback as the lead actor in Thottal Poo Malarum. It was directed by his father in 2007. He became a successful actor for his roles in Ninaithale Inikkum (2009), and his father’s Kannada film, Shivalinga which was remade in Tamil by director Raghava Lawrence. Shakthi starred in the remake too.

However, after Ninaithale Inikkum he was not as successful, and his films didn’t do well at the box office. In 2017, he participated as one of the 15 contestants in Bigg Boss Tamil. He engaged in controversies and was accused of backbiting on the show.
He became a sensation for often using the word ‘trigger’ at the Bigg Boss house.
While there are speculations that the actor is receiving many offers after gaining fame through Bigg Boss, he is also said to be waiting for a content-oriented script, with a strong character for him.
