In a press note released this afternoon, actor and TFPC President Vishal, petitioned the Tamil Nadu government and the MLA from RK Nagar, TTV Dhinakaran to shut down a few wine shops in the RK Nagar constituency.

“I welcome the government’s decision to shut down 500 wine shops on Puratchithalaivi Amma’s birthday on February 24. But I also request the government and the MLA from RK Nagar, TTV Dhinakaran to include two wine shops at the cross road junction along the New Washermanpet – Thiruvottriyur highway in their list as they are a source of disturbance to women and students. While there have been several protests regarding the presence of these wine shops in the area, the government hasn’t paid heed yet,” he said, adding, “Likewise, I would also request the government to shut all wine shops across Tamil Nadu that have proved to be a public nuisance.”

Actor Vishal had earlier tried to contest the by-elections for the RK Nagar constituency, but in a dramatic turn of events, his nomination papers were accepted and later rejected. While the officials had declared that the actor’s nomination papers had only eight “valid signatures” of proposers than the required 10, Vishal cried foul, alleging that one of the proposers was forced to withdraw their support following coercion by the AIADMK.
