Actress Vijaylakshmi Appeals To Rajinikanth For Help

Actress Vijayalakshmi, who was in the ICU and is undergoing treatment for critical health issues, has appealed to Rajinikanth to allow her to meet him and seek help. She has alleged that Kannada actor Ravi Prakash and the Actors’ Union in Kannada cinema have been harassing her with no one coming forward to support her financially.

Vijayalakshmi has acted in many Kannada and Tamil films and serials in her two decade career, and recently shifted to Bangalore for work. In February, it was reported that she was in the ICU of Mallya Hospital in Bangalore after her blood pressure shot up. Her sister Usha Devi said they had spent all their funds on their mother’s hospitalisation the previous month, and appealed to the film industry to support the family.

After Vijaylakshmi was out of hospital, she released a video alleging that actor Ravi Prasad, who gave her Rs 1 lakh for the hospital expenses, was harassing her for the money. She filed a complaint against him with the police, and also said that the Kannada Artistes’ Union were asked to not to support her. She appealed to the Tamil industry to help her pay Ravi Prasad back and move to Chennai.

In a video yesterday, she said her physical and mental health was deteriorating, and her mother and sister were also dependent on her. Alleging that some people were responsible for her situation, she said, “Rajini sir knows why I want to reach him and I’m confident he will understand and help. He is my last hope because everyone else has deserted me.”

Vijaylakshmi had earlier thanked Kannada actor Sudeep for his financial aid, and appealed to Rajkumar brothers, actors Yash and Darshan in a video.

The actress is best known to the Tamil audience for her role in the 2001 film Friends as Vijay’s sister, and has acted in Boss Engira Baskaran, Kalakkappu, Thillalangadi, Thambikottai, and the TV serial Nandhini.
